I've had good luck with GE

Smart Strips allow you to kill vampire power to peripheral devices when a master device shuts down.  For example: when you turn off your computer, the Smart Strip will switch off all power to your monitor, printer, speakers, external hard drive, etc.

The blue receptacle is for the master device, the red ones are always on, and the white ones are slaves to the master.

The first step in reducing your overall power use is to determine how much power/money different devices are consuming.  The Kill A Watt does exactly that.

This device does for your whole house what the Kill A Watt does for individual devices: display how much power you are currently consuming, and how much it is costing you.

A miles-per-gallon display for your car.  It will also give you trouble codes for the check engine light.
